Best Homemade Pancake Recipe From Scratch
For the day that is in it, Shrove Tuesday or also known as Pancake Tuesday I thought I would show you just how simple it is to make the best homemade pancakes from scratch.
No more will you hover over the “ready-made” batter on the grocery shelves, those days are long gone!
Armed with 3 simple ingredients you can make simply divine pancakes within minutes.
Utensils
Mixing bowl, hand blender, deep ladle, weighing scales and a frying pan
Ingredients
100g plain flour
2 x eggs (large)
300ml fresh milk
1tbsp oil for pan
Method
Add all the ingredients into a bowl and use your electric mixer or hand blender to blend until smooth and no lumps.
Set aside the pancake batter for 30mins.
Place the frying pan on the heated hob and once the pan is hot drizzle on the oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
Add a ladle of batter mix making sure to cover the bottom of the pan.
Wait until the batter is nearly cooked and turning brown before turning over to cook the other side.
Repeat until all the batter mix has been used.
Alternatively, you can use some and leave the rest of the batter in the fridge overnight for use the next day.
Serving Suggestions
All you need to serve with these homemade pancakes is your imagination, will it be sweet or savoury, the choice is yours.
The choices are endless but here are some suggestions to help you out on the savoury or sweet:
- Bacon with maple syrup
- Parma Ham, goats cheese, a drizzle of mayonnaise
- Nutella with sliced bananas/strawberries/raspberries etc.
- Melted butter, a drizzle of lemon juice and shake of sugar
The picture alone made my mouth water.
My wife and I love pankakes but we rarely do them. But this recipe is in our breakfast menu for tomorrow thanks to you!
I can’t wait to come back here every day from now on and see what you got stored for our next meal.
Thank you so much for posting!
Hi Afonso, thank you so much for your kind comment.
I hope you enjoyed making and eating the pancakes. I would love to hear how you choose to eat them.
Many thanks, Olive
Those pancakes in that picture look delicious. My mouth is watering just looking at them. I
like that there are not many ingredients and the instructions look easy to follow.
You mention a frying pan, does this detail affect taste.
I think I am a maple bacon person because it just sounds so good. However, Nutella sounds really good too.
Hi Lee
Thanks for comments.
It is important that you use a clean and hot frying pan to spread the batter in order to make the pancakes.
Try them out with different fillings, they really are very tasty.
All the best, Olive
